The Story of MJ
Hola! The name is MJ and this is my story…
Oof! Latina can mean so many things but to me, it’s being a badass and a luchadora. I don’t consider myself unique but I have had unique experiences in my life and those experiences have created the person that I am today.
My grandmother inspires me. Without her knowing it she was the first feminist role model I looked up to. She was a businesswoman and was able to provide for her family. Also, all women inspire me because we are so strong and we all have so much to offer. Every woman has a story and each story has strength in it. I hope that women see this and we find value in who we are.
I’ve had personal challenges throughout my life and starting my business is one of those. I’m a self-taught business owner who has soo much to learn. However, the biggest challenge though is keeping my business Earth Friendly. I am learning about what it means to be a socially responsible business for the environment and for my local community. I love to put the Earth first and that comes with a lot of challenges and a lot of learning.
Being a Latina business owner means creating a space for who we are and what we are becoming. I hope that it inspires and creates. Along with that, I hope I can teach you a thing or two about living mindfully while celebrating our badass community.
I am really proud of (accomplishments, whether it’s in your personal development or career, this could be anything that makes you proud). I am proud of my business and I am proud of where I come from and all of my experiences. Looking back at the tough and less glamorous times in my life those are the ones that have led me here and have given me the strength to go after something that I believe in. I love doing this because I get to connect with new people and share my creativity.
Señorita is really new. I want to continue to learn and evolve with my business and continue to connect with people. I will continue to work really hard on keeping Señorita Earth-friendly. It’s not easy and I would love to continue to grow in this area.
The advice I would give another fellow Latina:
- If you can dream it you can do it but you’re gonna have to put in the work.
- Whatever you do, do it with passion and love.
- Believe in yourself.
I have so many but this one by Michele Obama is inspiring “You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.” Go for it and take the leap.
