The Story of Katarina Marcial
My name is Katarina and this is my story…
To me, being Latina means being part of a rich, flavorful Boricua family full of hard workers, dreamers and doers who inspire me daily. The flavor of my soul is seasoned with sazon and salsa and I couldn’t be prouder.
What makes me unique is my passion and grit. My career journey thus far has many twists and turns by no means has it been smooth sailing. My unwavering perseverance has got me through a successful career change from fashion merchandising to marketing. This journey has helped me find my voice and myself honestly. It was one of the hardest things for me to do as it required me to humble myself, listen to my heart and become a beginner again.
I am really proud to be a fashion enthusiast and marketer with two degrees under my belt, a BS from Cornell University and MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from Babson College. Honestly, the thing I’m most proud of is the woman I’ve become. I went from a soft-spoken introvert to a powerful Latina who speaks her mind, even if her voice shakes. Yup, AOC inspires me. I love supporting, encouraging and spreading positive chi to my fellow Latinas, which is what inspired me to start Fiery Flair, a women empowerment blog that focuses on uplifting women with positivity, style and pearls of wisdom. The women who inspire me are Audrey Hepburn, Mindy Kaling, Frida Kahlo, America Ferrera, Beyonce and JLo.
My next move is still being written but I am growing currently building FieryFlair.com and my social media presence. I have a lot of fashion and LATINX-themed articles on the way.
The advice I would give another fellow Latina is to treat others with the kindness you would like to see in the world.
My favorite quote is Always a Lesson, Never a Failure. Your mistakes aren’t failures but valuable lessons and building blocks that are making you into the best version of yourself.
